SSD Upgrade for an old Dell laptop in Brighton

A lady from Brighton contacted me saying her old dell laptop was running super slow and was driving her crazy. I took a look at it and after a few quick tests I was able to show her that it was her standard mechanical hard disk that came with the laptop that was the cause of the poor performance. I quoted her to upgrade her laptop to a high speed SSD and explained that she wouldn’t lose any data at all as I use an intelligent cloning process to copy her data from the old hard disk to the new one exactly 1 for 1. She gladly agreed to go ahead and the very next day she had her laptop back on her desk now running faster than ever!

New Digital Insite Powerhouse PC with 24″ LED installed in Lonsdale

Another of my long time customers (14+ years) called me up saying they needed a new PC ASAP for a staff member in their office in Lonsdale. Of course I was more than happy to oblige and had their new Core i5 7500 / 8GB Ram / 250gb SSD + 1TB SSHD Windows 10 PC ready to go that afternoon and booked them in for an install the very next morning. After an hour or two I had the new hardware connected up to all of their network devices and all of their software installed and configured ready to go 🙂

Windows 10 PC not booting up in Flagstaff Hill

A long time customer called me up saying their Windows 10 PC had suddenly stopped booting up. I asked what they were seeing when they hit the power button and they said they see he ASUS logo and then a black screen and the whole system powers off. I immediately suspected a faulty motherboard and asked them if I could take it back to my workshop to do some in depth testing. After some further testing I was able to rule out the motherboard as the source of the fault and now had my attention turned to the RAM. It’s quite rare for memory to be faulty or to go bad but it can happen so I started more testing with this in mind. After swapping out the DDR4 RAM sticks for some brand new ones I was able to confirm that it was indeed faulty RAM and not the motherboard. This was a huge relief too as swapping the RAM takes literally 30 seconds whereas changing the motherboard is a much more involved process. In the end after some brand new RAM went in they were back in the game 🙂

Very slow 9 year old Dell laptop in Glenelg upgraded to high speed SSD

A nice lady from Glenelg called me up saying her Dell laptop was running very, very slow and was recommended by one of her friends to give me a call about speeding it up. I had a look at the laptop and after a few tests I was able to tell that the manufacture date was around 2009 which by today’s standards is quite old. After some further tests though I was able to tell that her laptop did indeed have a SATA3 type hard disk and even though it was a modest spec laptop (Core2 Duo / 4GB RAM)  I was able to give her the option to upgrade to a high speed SSD which would immediately alleviate the speed issues coming from her very slow 5400 RPM mechanical hard disk that came originally supplied with the laptop. After some tricks and a bit of head scratching I was able to completely clone her original hard disk to the new SSD in a perfect mirror image which meant that every single thing on her laptop including stayed exactly as it was except was now running on an infinitely faster hard disk 🙂 She was wrapped as it meant she didn’t have to go through the process of setting everything up on a new laptop and was able to be back up and running on a much faster system for well under half the price!

SSD upgrade for dead Windows 7 laptop

One of my business customers called me this week saying their Windows 7 laptop had been running very slow and then suddenly crashed and now won’t boot up at all. I suspected that their hard disk was old and had worn out with age and after some tests I was able to prove this when loads and loads of bad sectors and bad blocks were coming up during a disk repair. I gave some options to my customer to replace their hard disk with a standard mechanical one or to upgrade it to a high speed SSD. They chose the high speed SSD option and after Windows 7 had been reinstalled along with the system device drivers and all of their data recovered and restored they were back in business faster than ever! In short a slow and dying 5 year old laptop has been given a new lease of life for well under half the price of a new laptop 🙂
