Marino Onsite Computer Support : Outlook IMAP problems and printing issues in Google Chrome

One of my business customers from Marinocontacted with an issue in Outlook 2010 where it wasn’t updating his stored folders using IMAP. I had seen this error before many times and put it down to a strange quirk in Outlook 2010 that seems to cause this. I set him up in Thunderbirdand tested the exact same scenario and found that not only was Thunderbird much faster at communicating over IMAP but it also didn’t hit any of these strange “freezes” when accessing stored IMAP folders. He was also having an issue with printing his bank statements out from his banking website so I checked his Trend Antivirus and added an exception for the banking site and it got everything working again. Another happy customer 🙂

Wattle Park Onsite Computer Repairs : Windows 10 PC black screen after login

A customer from Wattle Park was having some issues with his PC where it would display a black screen after login and basically wouldn’t let him do anything at all. I tried all of the usual fixes such as booting to safe mode and a system restore but wasn’t able to get the PC functional again. I ended up having some success after removing the Windows 10 Creators Update which ad auto installed itself a few weeks back. Once the Creators Update was removed I was able to log back in and see the desktop. Unfortunately the PC was horribly slow and a bit more testing showed that the hard disk was dying and was badly in need of replacement. I’ll be supplying a new hard disk and cloning his PC over the weekend and should have him back in action for early next week.

West Beach Onsite Computer Repairs : Data transfer from old PC to new laptop + MYOB setup

One of my long time customers from West Beach go in contact with me saying she is downsizing her business and wanted to move away from using a desktop PC and get all of her work and personal data on to he laptop instead. I began the process of transferring all of her documents, pictures and other work data across to the laptop but hit a bit of a snag with MYOBas she was using an older version from quite a few years back. She had lost the original install CD but I managed to find a website that had the installers available in zip format so I had MYOB installed and up and running in no time. After setting up her email and tweaking a few things here and there I had her all good to go on the laptop and now she can give to old PC to her son to use.
