A customer of mine on Greenhill road called me up saying they were having an odd issue on their laptop where the touchpad and keyboard had stopped responding completely. The laptop itself wasn’t terribly old and even after rebooting the same problem persisted. I was able to get a USB plug-in mouse to work and after enabling the on-screen keyboard I was able to at least diagnose the problem. It seemed that something had corrupted a setting in the registry settings that controlled the touchpad and keyboard and had rendered them completely unusable. After locating the offending registry setting and applying a fix that I found online I was then able to uninstall the USB controller drivers and get Windows 10 to re-detect the keyboard and touchpad properly and get them back in action.
