Some problematic wireless access points are the focus of the day today at a school in AberfoylePark. All of the students aren’t here today so it’s an ideal time to check on the roof mounted access points to make sure they are all working and giving out a good signal throughout the whole campus. A few of the access points were showing up in the wireless settings on devices but weren’t allowing staff and students to connect to the internet and local network resources. My first port of call for any access points in question is to remove them from the roof and attempt to power cycle them in the hopes that the old “reboot trick” we all know and love so much on our PC’s and laptops works here too. In most cases today, that was all that was required to fix the problem!

Aberfoyle Park Computer Support : New Eco-system PC installed

An old engineering colleague from my first job as a systems administrator for a company called Connell Wagner (now Aurecon) called me up a few days ago saying that his mother who lives in a nice retirement village in Aberfoyle Park needed a new computer to replace her 10+ year old Intel Celeron Windows Vista PC that was badly dragging it’s feet and not starting up anymore. I supplied her with one of our new Digital Insite ECO-system PC’s that now come standard with a high speed SSD, a Core i3 7100 3.9GHZ and 8GB of RAM. I helped her transfer all of her photos, documents and emails to the new PC and got her all set up so it was super easy to turn it on and get down the business doing the things she loves. Needless to say it was a quantum leap in performance from the last PC but not at a price that breaks the bank 🙂

Aberfoyle Park, Clovelly Park, Lonsdale, Torrensville, Plympton Park then Hallett Cove… All in a days work :)

Another busy day that started out at Aberfoyle Park dropping off a laptop I repaired for a family from a school then down the Clovelly Park to help a business with getting their security camera system connected to the Internet so they can access and monitor their cameras after hours and anywhere in the world.

After that it was down to a catering business in Lonsdale to set up a brand new PC for them to replace their main laptop that had died and was controlling all of their their point of sale stock and sales synchronization between their sales terminals.

Next, I was on the road again to Plympton Park to help another customer with his wireless printer and some website issues and lastly Torrensville to deliver a laptop I had upgraded with a high speed SSD and then back to the workshop to build another PC. All in a days work 🙂
