Seaford Onsite Computer Repairs and Support : remote control triggering for security system via iphone and browser

A business customer of mine in Seaford needed some help configuring their new security system to allow for remote on and off triggering via their iphoneand through a web browser. It had initially been setup and was working fine but lately they haven’t been able to remotely arm or disarm the security system using their phones. I started by opening the security panel and checking all connections and then proceeded to test the modem settings including the DMZ and port forwarding through the firewall. After a few tweaks and updates they were back in business and fully operational again.

Fulham Gardens Onsite Computer Support : Setup two new HP tablet PC’s for building inspector

Another of my long time customers contacted me yesterday saying his trusty old Asustransformer mini laptop had died and he needed help setting up his software on a new mini laptop ASAP so he could get back to work. I was more than happy to help and had both of the new laptops all up and running with this custom building inspection software, antivirus, dropboxand all of the other tools he needed to do his job in a few hours. I also disabled the automatic Windows 10 updates as he’s had quite a few issues in the past with the updates breaking his software. I don’t normally suggest disabling the updates but in his case it’s the far better option than having to reinstall everything when Microsoft decides to do a massive update the breaks SQL and other components of his software.

Eden Hills Onsite Computer Support : Windows 10 PC won’t power on after moving house

A customer of mine said he was having problems with his Windows 10 PC not powering on after he recently moved house. As I had serviced and repaired his PC only a few months ago I knew it shouldn’t be a hardware related issue so I began by testing all of the cabling. Thankfully for him it was a combination of the power cord not being securely plugged into his LED screen as well as the HDMI cable being plugged into the onboard video output instead of his graphics card. It’s an easy mistake to make but he was glad it was easily fixed  without the need to replace any parts.

Aberfoyle Park Onsite Computer Repair and Support : Helping school staff and students

I had the privilege of helping staff and students at a school in Aberfoyle Park today with all of the problems that arise with being in a progressive technology driven environment. It’s great to see the students learning and adapting to the changes presented to them as part of studying in 2018. Several large projects are on the horizon including assisting with the setup of a new national video conferencing system and I am personally looking forward to undertaking the task and all of the challenges that come with it.

Clovelly Park Onsite Computer Repair and Support : Point of Sale PC very slow / hard disk replaced with SSD

One of my business customers contacted me saying their main point of sale PC was very slow to start up and was generally very sluggish throughout the day. I took at the PC and while the CPU and RAM side of things were more than adequate, the hard disk reported as having several unrepairable issues which led me to suggest a replacement immediately. I quoted them a high speed SSD to replace the dying 7+ year old mechanical hard disk and got them underway right away by installing the SSD and cloning their entire original hard disk onto the SSD in a perfect 1 for 1 clone. After a few tweaks they were good to go on the new SSD and were seeing boot up times of under 20 seconds as opposed to the 4 minutes on the old hard disk. Overall program use on the new SSD was also lightning fast and huge improvement over the old mechanical hard disk. All up, it’s a win!
