A customer from Brighton contacted me saying his 8.1 laptop had just stopped booting up this morning. After the normal power on process it would display nothing but a black screen with the white mouse cursor. I took a look at the laptop and immediately thought it had most likely become corrupted by either an automatic windows or even or a virus. I was able to interrupt the failed boot up and get it into the diagnostic menu which then let me repair and rebuild the boot process. After a few specialised commands and with fingers crossed I rebooted and saw it come up with the normal log in screen and his laptop was in action. Another happy customer!
