A furniture polishing company from Wingfield was recommended to me by another of my customers and called me up saying they were having some strange problems on their PC especially in MYOB. The PC wasn’t very old and was a pretty good spec for it’s day (i7 4790 / 8GB RAM / 250GB SSD) but was doing some odd things in programs such as not responding to some mouse clicks. I looked into the problem and found there were a few redundant “tuneup” programs on the PC which I’ve found generally make the PC run worse than better so I promptly removed these applications. I then found some mouse software and drivers that were intended to add some additional features but as the customer wasn’t using any of these I also removed them. After a good tuneup and removing the mouse software the PC was back up to it’s snappy self and was playing nice again in all of their work applications. I also noticed that the in built Windows System Restore function had become broken and as this is a very important lifeline for when things go wrong I undertook to fixing this also. Registry corruption was the problem here – most likely due to one of the tuneup programs – and once these errors were resolved System Restore was back in action.
